Here are some work in progress shots of my command vehicle used in my Not DKK Army. Vehicle by Ramshackle Games from the recent Kickstarter.

Rubbing away the white paint. I used the Hairspray Technique for this. It is a bit disheartening to spend hours painting on weathering for it all to be painted over.

Black stripes. I wasn't as successful as I had hoped with the masking and had to do a fair amount of retouching.

Start of muddying up the dozer blade. I used weathering products from AK Interactive.

  1. The tracks were painted with, AK Interactive: AK721 Rusty Tracks and then washed with AK724 Dry Light Mud. When dry a pencil was rubbed over it to simulate bare metal. This gave a very satisfactory look.
For the dried earth and mud I used AK Interactive: AK017 Earth Effects mixed with some fine river silt. And for the mud AK016 Fresh Mud, again mixed with silt. This does rub off a bit on your fingers, so I will be applying a coat of varnish to fix it. This then will be followed up with some gloss varnish on the patches of wet mud. I would recommend using Humbrol paints instead of the AKs as you will get the same result, probably for less money.
